Thanksgiving family fun & photos of course...

Thanksgiving long weekend (Canadian of course), i had the opportunity to photograph some good friends of mine and their family at Egan Lake, British Columbia. The Forsyth cousins and their families come to this beautiful lake every year for their Thanksgiving festivities. Here, the trees are golden, the air is crisp, and the kids have all the room they could ever need to run and play. This year, however, is their last, as the kids are getting older, and life has taken these families down different paths. And so, we decided to commemorate all the wonderful years and memories that they had here with some family photos...

...ok, i know i haven't posted in, like, forever, so we will discuss this next time (which will be very soon i promise). I have sooooooooo much to show and tell. Also, i do believe that i will attempt the whole fashion thing again, so stay tuned for some stylin' pics as well. Until then, stay fabulous!

Awkward & Awesome Thursday with a little Sneaky Peeky...

T13_07MAY2011-1245B
Awkward:

1. For sure the picture above...but you know, you can see it.

2. Needing a coworker to spray anti-static stuff up my skirt, but in the middle of the office, because it didn't occur to either of us to go somewhere more private, and people watching us like we're grossly inappropriate, and then there was the dampness for a good half hour.

3. When people call you and start rambling on and on, and you can't stop them without sounding rude, but you know nothing about what they're talking about, and when they finally stop, expecting you to have a wonderfully clever answer, you have nothing more to say than, let me transfer you to [insert name here].

4. Trying to explain slang to your grandmother, believe me, its not easy.

5. Being the only 30 year old at a 19 year old's birthday party, but nobody believes you're 30, they think you're 23, and at first you think "that's awesome", but then you think about it more, and you wonder if its your looks or your personality/party style. I suppose i'll never know, and so, i'm going with looks, which in turn, makes this #5 of Awesomeness as well!

Awesome:

1. Summertime BBQs with friends and family.

2. Camping. Haven't gone yet, but scheduled for next weekend, cannot wait!

3. Re-vamping the front yard with the Hubs. Good quality time and our house looks that much less ghetto now.

4. How busy i am with photos. Sorry everyone waiting, i'm working as fast as my schedule and computer will let me. As for those coming up, cannot wait to spend time with you!

5. Please see #5 of Awkward...

And now, here is a little sneaky peeky from the Wright family and maternity session done recently...

Awkward & Awesome Thursday, en español...

...*knock, knock, knock*...is anybody out there? Holy moly has it been forever since i've posted ANYTHING! I've been smokin' busy lately, jetting off to Mexico for a wedding, then house-sitting for friends with their XL, M, and SM puppies. I never thought i'd say this, but i miss my incredibly crappy bed. Soon, we will be together again! Anyways, it's been so long that i have quite the stock of awkward and awesomeness to share, so here we go. Here are some sneaky peekys from the Mexican wedding for your viewing pleasure...

218232_153024481429916_125898550809176_296037_7382097_o
218232_153024481429916_125898550809176_296037_7382097_o
Awkward:

1. Arriving in Mexico to find out that you are not on the list to take the bus to the resort, therefore, you have to stand to the side and wait until the 30 other people are checked off before the very sweaty Mexican bus driver can tend to you. And by the end, you are equally as sweaty as the bus driver and beyond mortified, as everyone on the bus is now watching you try and convince this bus driver, in very broken spanish, that you are supposed to be on this bus.

2. Same thing happening to go home, only this time the Hubs is very angry and yelling at the man who doesn't understand him, and the entire bus is watching and waiting on you, again!

3. Meeting the Bride and Groom's families and doing the should we shake or hug dance, like, 7 times in a row.

4. It being so hot and the Bride's dress fitting her so perfectly, that i had to tuck her butt into it to get the zipper up. Good thing we were good friends to start, otherwise, we most certainly would be now!

5. Trying to make yourself look pretty while sweating profusely. Telling you right now, it doesn't work.

6. Ordering a meal at the resort, barely eating it because i'm not overly sure what it is i ordered, and the waiter asking how everything was, i reply,"GREAT!", he looks at the barely touched plate, raises his eyebrows and walks away. Sorry Senior, it was mucho grosso!

7. Thinking that adding an O to the end of any english word makes it spanish, and then actually trying to carry on a conversation with a Mexican person in this fashion. Oh how the Hubs is entertaining in Mexico!

8. Trying to shop in Mexico in a huge group. Good thought, non-good experience. Especially when its so hot! Its like trying to shop with someone that has the opposite shopping style as you, but in an oven, and with 10 of them.

9. Having the Mexican man fit you for a zip line harness very quickly and with very little boundary control. Yup, possibly got felt up in Mexico, but for safety purposes, so i let it slide!

10. Walking around with a harness and a helmet on in 40 degree Celsius weather, it makes you feel oh so pretty [insert extreme sarcasm here]!

Awesome:

1. Being able to take the Hubs to mexico with me at the last minute...second honeymoon, here we come!

2. Being able to go to Mexico twice in six months, YA WE DID!

3. Having a better tan than most people at home, including the Hubs. I say most, as we do live in the "Sunny Okanagan" and there are always those people that tan just because they're sitting by a window, *ahem* Ryan.

4. The Bride and Groom. Thanks so much Mr. and Mrs. Laface, we had THE MOST wonderful time.

5. Mexican time. Generally 10-20 minutes slower than Canadian time.

6. That the Hubs dances in Mexico, like, every night!I LOVE when he dances, it makes going to the "watering hole" so much more fun.

7. Not having to cook for 8 whole days.

8. Finishing 3 books. LOVE finishing books, it makes me feel like i've accomplished something great!

9. Being able to still watch the hockey games while in a tropical country. GO NUCKS GO!

10. Being able to experience so many great things with the Hubs in Mexico, some new, some that we loved so much we got to do again.

...stay tuned for more visual wonders from this wonderful trip.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday...

Hello lovlies, its that awkward and awesome time again, here we go...

Sepia

Awkward...

1. The photo above, posted on Facebook by a "friend", thanks T! It was taken whilst dancing at the local drinking hole at the Fiesta Showerette. Seriously, isn't there some kind of protocol or understanding to follow before you are allowed to post such awesomely awkward photos of your friends on the internet? As for what i'm doing, please refer to #2...

2. Dancing when you've had one or two, at the local drinking hole, when one of your favorite songs come on and you can't help but dance like nobody else is there, and you're wearing flip flops, and your friend is armed with a camera...you get the picture (or if you don't, please scroll to the top of the page)...

3. When you're shopping for $30 jeans in a store and the sales lady keeps bringing you $100 jeans. Seriously lady, i haven't EVER spent that much on a pair of jeans, but thank you for asking, over and over until i got so frustrated that i left with no jeans. So there, that's what you get...

4. Telling the new girl at work about a student that makes me blush and turns me into a stuttering ninny when he comes in because he is so darn cute, [insert foot into mouth here], and she informs me that he is her boyfriend. I get all red, break into a sweat, and have to leave the office because i can't stop my laughter of embarrassment. Needless to say, she will be letting him know tonight that the creepy lady that lost his exam for a wee bit last year has a crush on him. AWESOME!

5. Having to drive someone that you don't know to the hospital because they broke their shoulder playing lacrosse. But he's a cop, so you don't want to speed, but he's in so much pain that you think maybe you should. You try to make small talk to ease the tension, but he only answers you in grunts and moans, and sometimes a coherent word. You then drop him off to wait in the emergency ward by himself, because you don't know him and you have to get back to pick up the rest of the people that came with you. Oh the awkward horror...

Awesome...

1. The tulips and daffodils sprouting everywhere, so pretty!

2. Getting to have my foster pup for the WHOLE weekend. Yay, sleepover with Max. Oh, how i miss having a pup in the house full time.

3. First camping trip of the year planned, CANNOT wait!

4. Lana "Solana" Banana, my mama hen at work. SHE ROCKS, thank you so much for all your help Lana, i would never have finished everything without you, MOUAH!

5. My 3 day week next week, yay for Easter!!!

Awkward & Awesome Thursday...

Hello all, today's Awkward & Awesome Thursday is brought to you by a very busy, frantic, tired, irritable, stressed and a we bit grouchy Lissa, so please excuse the few items and possible whiny undertone...

2011-04-07
shirt,necklace:Walmart; pants:Joe Fresh; Flippy floppies,belt:American Eagle

Awkward...

1. This shirt in pictures. It makes me look like i have a little tummy sticking out above my belt. I'd just like to clarify that i do not, and that there is no photo editing that can fix this, BELIEVE ME, i tried. Not that there is anything wrong with having a little tummy, oh this just became even more awkward, on to #2...

2. Walking, rather, being walked by my "foster dog", Max (actually, he's my landlord's dog that stays with us while he is at work, and then goes downstairs to sleep). It was the most awkward, frantic, painful, clumsy, stressful dog walk i've ever been on. He was pulling, i was sliding, he was swerving, i was yelling, it was just not a good time. He even continued to pull when he could no longer breathe and his tongue was almost touching the ground. AND, to top it off, i now have shin splints. Sorry Max, no more walks for you buddy.

3. My husband suddenly texting me things in very broken french (courtesy of an option on his phone, apparently). Sorry babe, it was a good effort, but it made absolutely no sense, and was kinda creepy and wierd. Still love you though, just prefer you in English :)

4. Having to apologize to the hot dog vendor in front of our local drinking hole, for my slightly inebriated friend trying to get a discount on her hot dog. The poor guy didn't even know what to do. Sorry, again, Mr. Hot Dog Man!

5. Seeing a guy from high school at the local drinking hole, and he tells myself and my Bestie, "You girls sure got hotter in your old age!" Well, thank you, i will let the nurses at my old age home know that they are doing a great job! JERK FACE! I'm sure he meant it as a compliment, but seriously, some people should just not be allowed to talk!

Awesome...

1. Realizing that a part of you was missing, and knowing exactly what it was.

2. In preparation for the Showerette at my house last weekend, i managed to get a month's worth of spring cleaning done in 2 frantically, stressful days.

3. Country music. Now, i know many people would NOT agree with me on this, however, i think it is awesome because i can relate more to country songs than pop. Let face it, i can relate to the apple bottom jean thing, but when he starts telling me to go low, low, low, well we all know, that that is just not an option in my "old age". And this repetitive thing that pop has going on now constantly makes me think my radio is skipping, then i remember that the radio doesn't skip and that's another awkward moment for me!

4. Leclerc, Praeventia cookies. They are SOOOOO chocolaty and heart shaped, but only 150 calories. Also, it states right on the front that they are good for your digestive health, which we all know that in your "old age", this can become an issue ;)

5. My girlfriend Arla. She is so motivating and inspiring, i just LOVER her. Thanks Arla, you and Jillian Michaels are gonna get me ready for Mexico in NO TIME!

Sorry Ladies and Gents, this is all i got this week. Wish i had more time, cause we all know that i certainly have more moments to share!

I'm feeling...

To Dophotos courtesy of Pinterest...check it out, but careful, its addicting!

...the above is a little montage of how i've been feeling lately. Down home, comfortable, rustic, lazy, cozy, and well, just getting back to my roots. I'm definitely a country girl at heart, and one night at our local drinking hole brought it all rushing back! One night of line dancing, two stepping, cowboy hatting, and a good song about a tractor made me realize that i had lost myself somehow. Back in February i turned 30, and bored yall with a post about how i'm finding myself more and more. Well...here's yet another thing that i'm sure about, i'm country to the core! I cannot wait until summer. The camping, fishing, horseback riding, quadding, back yard BBQ's, good friends, and good times. I know a couple of my girls will be disappointed (you thought you cured me!?), but sorry ladies, i'm back, and you're gonna have to deal with the plaid wearing, wrangler loving, boot scooting, thinking tractors are sexy me again!

Awkward & Awesome Thursday...

...hello lovelies, 'tis that day again, here we go...

2011-03-31

Sandals,pants,sweater:Walmart; Scarf:OC Bookstore, Bracelet:gifted, Earrings:had them so long, i honestly cannot remember

Awkward...

1. Driving to work through a construction zone, rocking out to Adele "Rolling in the Deep", and looking over to find a construction worker busting a gut laughing at me. "Good morning Sir, glad i could make your day!"

2. Wearing these heels to work. I could NOT walk, i could NOT run, and i was told that i sounded like a horse. Needless to say, they have now been demoted to functions that i only have to sit at, and making my closet look pretty, sorry shoes.

3. Trying to position a sleeping newborn without waking it. THIS gave me crazy anxiety for some reason. It was like i was defusing a bomb!

4. When people stand so close to you in a line that you can feel (or smell) their breath. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, respect the bubble!

5. Riding in the backseat of cars. Nobody can hear you and you can't hear anything, it just sucks.

6. Having to talk to someone while they're breast feeding. Now, i'm not opposed to it at all, but unfortunately, its still awkward.

7. The gym, it sucks.

8. The Walmart greeter asking me if i would like a happy face sticker. Do i look 5? Maybe i just looked like i was having a bad day, or pitiful, or sad? Not sure what his motives were, but thought it might be even more awkward to ask him, so i politely smiled and said no thank you.

9. Getting busted coming out of the handicap bathroom. You just want to scream, "ALL THE STALLS WERE FULL, I SWEAR!"

10. Making your screen saver at work a wall of bikini clad lovelies. It's merely for motivation purposes, i promise!

Awesome...

1. Backing up Awkward #10...I leave for MEXICO in 1 month and 3 days, YEAH!

2. My decorations and goodies for the Showerette i am hosting this weekend. They are the AWESOMEST, if i do say so myself! (Can't say now, as there may be sneaky eyes reading this (Alanna), but i will surely post some pics after)

3. The Hubs, for vacating our home and surrendering it to a bunch of dancing, giggling, perhaps slightly inebriated girls, all day Saturday. Don't worry babe, i'll make sure we take special care of your couch!

4. Getting tomorrow off to make Jell-o shots (among other cleaning, shopping, chopping, mixing, hanging, moving and arranging things i have to do). Thanks boss lady ;)

5. Putting away of the winter clothes and gear, LOVE when i get to do this!

6. Be able to go outside with no jacket on, i HEART you sunshine.

7. FINALLY getting some motivation.

8. When friends tell you they miss you because you've been so busy that you haven't seen anyone in FOREVER. Awwwwww, i miss you guys too!

9. When Bestie buys you a gift just because it reminds her of you *hugs*. (will post pic soon)

10. Sushi, lover the sushi!

Introducing...

...i'd like to introduce baby Chloe. She is 1 week old and an absolute doll of Kristy and Ryan, remember them? It was such a treat to photograph this little baby girl, even if she refused to be on her tummy. Let's face it, i think she has the right to be a diva at this point, she's had a hard week! Perhaps she doesn't feel that her backside is her best feature right now? Anyways, from what i could tell, she is just perfect. So without further ado, here is the little love...

I've lost my mojo...

Hello my little fashionistas! So sorry for the recent halt in outfit postings, and its not even because i've been too busy. Well, i have been busy, but more-so...brace yourselves...i seem to have lost my fashion mojo! I KNOW, its absurd! It seems that, with the recent coming out of the sunshine, my mind has decided that my body only wants to wear boyfriend capris, flippy floppys and a cardie (to make it look more work appropriate). Call the fashion police, i'm turning myself in! My lack of motivation for anything lately has been enough to deserve a time out for AT LEAST 30 minutes (apparently you're supposed to give time outs for the age a person is?). I've felt like i've been running in circles and not accomplishing anything. UGH. Its especially hard to have this *ahem* "illness", as my OCD is in overdrive, but my body is like "oh heck no, i'm not doin' nothing, and you can't do anything to make me, so just keep thinking about the things you need to do, and suffer!" and my body is all woosie and like "oh ok". LAME. But, today is the beginning of the END of the spring slackathon! Today i got up and fashioned myself a fab outfit, did my hair, and even took a picture of it. AND, look at me, i'm even posting it! Looks like i may just come out of this alive and fabulous! So, here you go, spring office attire at its best (please do not mistake this for self portraiting at its best)...

_DSC0116.TIFShoes:Guess; Leggings,sweater:Walmart; Skirt,shirt:thrifted; Necklace:gifted

Happy springing yall!

PS, stay tuned for a sunny e-sesh AND an adorable baby girl coming at ya soon!
